The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on the death of former Cuban President Fidel Castro:
“It is with deep sorrow that I learned today of the death of Cuba’s longest serving President.
“Fidel Castro was a larger than life leader who served his people for almost half a century. A legendary revolutionary and orator, Mr. Castro made significant improvements to the education and healthcare of his island nation.
“While a controversial figure, both Mr. Castro’s supporters and detractors recognized his tremendous dedication and love for the Cuban people who had a deep and lasting affection for “el Comandante”.
“I know my father was very proud to call him a friend and I had the opportunity to meet Fidel when my father passed away. It was also a real honour to meet his three sons and his brother President Raúl Castro during my recent visit to Cuba.
“On behalf of all Canadians, Sophie and I offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and many, many supporters of Mr. Castro. We join the people of Cuba today in mourning the loss of this remarkable leader.”

これ、両方のサイドの意見があるべきで、正しい意見だと思うよ。少なくとも、キューバのような国の在り方は、ありうだろうと思う。
また、カストロという人の善意が、善意としてギリギリのところで独裁者でありながら継続したことに、とても興味を覚えます。だって、同じような起源を持つ北朝鮮やソ連、カンボジアがどういう道筋をたどったかを考えると。でもホーチミンのベトナム、訒小平の中国、キューバのカストロと、ギリギリ国がバランスをもってサバイバルした国は、みんなアメリカと激しい対立をしているなぁーと思います。まぁ、他の国もそうだけど。

しかし、フィデル・カストロと金日成は同じ社会主義体制を築き、同じ共産体制を追求したが、その実態を覗いてみれば相当な違いがあることに気づくだろう。
私がまだ北朝鮮で住んでいた時、北朝鮮のある高級将校と話をしたことがある。おそらく1996年のことだと覚えているが、その将校は北朝鮮ではかなり高い階級の上将（星3つの将軍）だったが、人民軍の軍事代表団としてキューバを訪れたことがある人だった。
彼はキューバに行ってキューバの高級将校らと会談をした後昼食をとる時の話を聞かせてくれたが、昼食の時間になってキューバの将軍たちと食堂に行ったら、高官専用の食堂もない上に将軍たちが一般兵士たちと同じ列に並んだという。
それを不思議に思った北朝鮮軍の将校はキューバの将星に聞いた。
「あなたは高官なのになぜこのようにトレイを持って列に並んで順番を待つのか」
すると、キューバの将校は笑いながら
「我々は、こういうふうに生きるために革命をしたじゃないか」
と答えたそうだ。それを聞いた北朝鮮の将校は「キューバの社会主義と北朝鮮の社会主義はかなり違う」と感じたと、そして、キューバは「真の社会主義」をしているようだったと語った。
キューバの平等と北朝鮮の平等
